Starting a text based web presence in 2025 feels a little counterintuitive.
Everybody is addicted to short form content. Attention spans are shrinking. And I catch even myself skimming texts for quick insights and results rather than taking the time to read a 2 minute article.
But this blogs is not here to reach everybody. I does not even have to reach anybody. Its mostly for myself.
what i hope from starting this
There are multiple reasons why I think this is beneficial.
I’m trying to become more comfortable with the idea of being someone who creates instead of one who only consumes. Without creating something and displaying it to the outside world nobody, you are safe. Nobody can critize you. You stay in your safe little space. Noone attacks you because noone sees you. But hiding has never been the key to life. Taking the risk and putting yourself out there is what gets you somewhere.
Also putting thoughts into words requires deeper thinking and a thorough understanding of the contents. Since I usually like to think I’m someone who likes to learn new stuff, this hopefully takes my learnings a step further. And since my native language is not english, I might even improve my English writing skills.
Also I see this as an exercise against the urge for quick dopamine. Handcrafting a piece of text and really thinking about the phrases surely takes some patience. I feel like my patience is not being tested enough because there is always something to look at, listen to or play with. 1 And since the rise of Large Language Models — such as ChatGPT — it is even more tempting to take the shortcut and generate entire paragraphs but that would destroy the meaning behind these posts.
However I also hope someone else out there can find any value in my writings. If you read this, it seems like at least someone found it a little interesting.
most of the time it is a little portable device in my pocket ↩︎
